- In 1809 emmigrated from Cumberland, Md,., to Knox Co., Ohio, where the family purchased 600 acres of land and laid out the town of Danville, which they named after Daniel Sapp. He was a farmer by occupation and a Whig in politics. He was evidently an active politician for he was the first County Surveyor and was Justice of the Peace in 1819 and re-elected in 1822, 1825, and 1832 and 1835. Daniel Sapp served in the War of 1812 as a Lieutenant in Captain John Greer's Company." - From "A History of the Sapp Family" by Sapp and Stanley (1910).
